This Guy Thought 2012 Was Terrible Too!

Add one more to the growing list of people that aren't fans of the movie 2012.  Harold Camping thinks you're crazy if you think the world is going to end in 2012.  Camping says "that date has not one stich of biblical authority."  One might think Ol' Harry is a pretty level guy with his ability to know a shitty movie when he sees it.  Not so fast my friend.  Harry's going to try to come out with a '5/21/2011' movie--"the real date for the end of times."

Well not exactly.  There's not enough time to get a script together, so let's just get down to brass tactics.  Harold Camping is an 88-year old preacher out in Oakland who has been studying the Bible for 70 years.  Harry thinks that a little math mixed with some scripture can give us the exact date of the end of the world.  To Harry, each number in the bible has meaning: for example, 5 is atonement, 10 is completeness, and 17 is heaven. So after crunching the numbers for 70 years, Harry's finally got the answer.

1) Christ died on April 1, 33 A.D.
2) April 1, 2011 is 1,978 years after Christ's death
3) Multiply 1978 by 365.2422 days  (the days in a solar year)= about 722,449
4) April 1 to May 21 is 51 days
5) Add 51 to 722, 449 and you get 722,500.

You'll never guess what (5X10X17) squared is.  That's right: 722,500.  As a wise man once said, "Of course, it's so simple, how did we not see it before?"  Before you start blowing all your money on needles and guns, there's something you should know.  This ain't the first time Harry's been calling for the end of times.  Harry first thought we were doomed on September 6, 1994.  But alas, we survived.  "Just a little fuzzy math," Harry explains.  Usually, RTB can sum up the article pretty well, and there's no need to check out the link.  Not this time.  Go read this.  There are so many great quotes, like this one from a 'follower' of Harry's when asked what if nothing happens on 5/21/11:

"I can't even think like that," LaCasse said. "Everything is too positive right now. There's too little time to think like that."

Awesome.
