Beef and Brady? Hell Yeah!

In case you missed it, and judging by the TV ratings you did, there was a pretty good college football game last night between Louisville and Southern Miss. Hard to believe it's that time of year again where we all put on our favorite Beef O' Brady flat-brimmed cap and cheer for our favorite Conference USA team, but it is.

First off, I had no idea what the hell Beef O' Brady's was, but I always assumed it was some type of canned stew loaded with beef and sodium. Apparently it's a restaurant where you can go cheer on every Florida based team as long as you don't show a logo on any of your gear. As a bonus, if you are a semi-hot chick, you can bring your tuba. Seriously...

See you at Beef's? See you at Beef's?! No, no, no, no! C'mon. People really call this place "Beef's?" That is one of those words that should never stand alone. Roast Beef is good, Corned Beef is good, Braised Beef is really good. The Beef nickname is reserved for the fat, slow, clumsy kid on the team or an ugly dog. Not a restuarant where you want to attract patrons. Not to mention, I'm guessing nobody goes to this place for the beef. The "Smokin' Jack Sliders" are a possible draw.

Right, the game. Louisville came back to win in exciting fashion. Look, we aren't ESPN. If you care so much about this game go there. There was a sweet catch in the first half by the Southern Miss QB, which we mentioned on our new twitter account that you are already following.

First, given all these crazy names that we, college football fans, must endure for the next month- a question: what is RTB's opinion of the worst/best possible bowl name?

I heard there was a group in California trying to by the rights to the SF bowl to rename it the "Legalize Marijuana So We Can Smoka" bowl.

No just kidding, but what if...

Second, there is irony in the fact that, while everyone has made fun of these stupid bowl names - Beef O'Brady apparently is getting exactly what it paid for - more people knowing its not something that gets donated to homeless shelters in massive quantities.

  2. I really like the TicketCity bowl b/c you can actually get cheaper tickets from TicketCity.com for that bowl game than you can from either Northwestern or Texas Tech. A sponsor that actually harms the schools--now that's irony!

  3. The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl has to be up there. 7 words for the name of a game is pretty excessive. Not to mention, is the SDCCU a national outfit? If so, they need to change up that name. How about Reggie Bush Heisman Fundelation Foundation Poinsettia Bowl, oh, wait.
